FRIED GREEN TOMATOES


INGREDIENTS:

  • 3-4 green tomatoes
  • 1/2 C. milk
  • oil for frying
  • 1 1/2 C. flour
  • 3/4 C. cornmeal
  • 1/2 tsp. each salt and pepper
  • 1 egg

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1 ) Slice the tomatoes into 1/2″ slices (I slice some a little thinner because I like them really crispy)

2 ) Combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper on a plate. Beat together the egg and milk in a bowl.

3 ) Heat oil to 375 degrees (I use a deep fryer), dip each tomato slice into the flour mixture, then the egg, back into the flour, and into the hot oil.

4 ) Repeat for remaining tomatoes.

5 ) Fry a few at a time for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
